About Alice: Alice returned to Hall School Wimbledon to gain some work experience during her gap year before completing a Primary Teaching Degree with Art and Design at Roehampton University. During her degree course, Alice was observed by Ofsted who stated that she had become an ‘outstanding teacher with excellent curriculum provision’. She then took up a position as a Reception Teacher.
Memories of HSW: “I spent a number of years at HSW and many of those were when I was happiest. HSW gives children a unique confidence that I have only experienced from its pupils. I gained life experiences such as rock climbing, abseiling, walking for miles on end (and enjoying it), cooking, sewing and trying new foods, to name but a few. Many of my fondest memories come from the field trips to Pevensey, waking up in a tent with a duck flapping around inside or being allowed a peanut butter sandwich for breakfast!
I was made to feel welcome at all times and every time I succeeded it was celebrated. Weekly Flint Wall tests, which are still discussed now between friends, gave me confidence to do well when it came to exams. The teachers at HSW are the reason I wanted to become a teacher; they showed enjoyment each day and excitement when we learned something new.
Many of my friends now, who did not go to HSW, often remark about my fond memories of school. I believe that this is because HSW provides a unique and individual learning experience that cannot be gained anywhere else.”
