Ann Margaret House, named for the mother of the Headmaster and Principal, was founded in 1998 to provide specialist education for a small group of children with autism and associated learning difficulties.
Located within the grounds of Hall School Wimbledon Junior School, as a self-contained annexe, Ann Margaret House offers a safe, secure learning environment for up to twelve children between the ages of 4 and 11 years old.
Facilities
Ann Margaret House is a converted house containing three teaching rooms, a kitchen and a multisensory suite.
Each teaching room can be used for individual or group work and each pupil has an individual work area for their independent work sessions. The multisensory suite offers an environment that supports interaction and communication and may also be used by the children for relaxation purposes.
The kitchen is well equipped for a range of tasks and pupils are taught to prepare and cook simple meals and snacks. All food in Ann Margaret House is freshly prepared and we can cater for a wide range of dietary requirements, including the provision of gluten and casein free meals.
The rear of the building opens onto a decked play area built in the style of a castle and provides a secure and stimulating area for the children to play and relax in.
Links with the Junior School
Ann Margaret House children are an integral part of the wider Hall School Wimbledon community. They wear the same uniform as the Junior School children and join them at their break times with supervision. When appropriate, Ann Margaret House children may also join their mainstream peers in activities aimed at the development of communication and social interaction skills and are sometimes visited by children of the Junior School for short periods of play.
Fees
Ann Margaret House is funded through Local Education Authority (LEA) funding or by private payment of fees. The school fees are negotiated with the LEA and relate to a child’s specific learning and healthcare needs.
