Art

Art plays a popular and important part in the lives of all Hall School Wimbledon children.

Opportunities for creativity begin in the Reception class where the children learn basic drawing skills using pastels, charcoals, pencils, ink and paint, and also explore 3D media including clay, fabric, wood, wire and papier-mâché.

From Year 2 onwards, children begin their formal Art education and have weekly Art lessons with a specialist teacher in our bright and airy art studio. We aim to provide children with a solid foundation in art techniques and a keen interest in traditional and contemporary art. By exploring a wide variety of materials, the children are able to produce stimulating work ranging from the conventional to more abstract mixed media pieces. Our curriculum naturally includes trips to the wonderful galleries London has to offer.

For those children with a keen interest in Art, there is a weekly after-school Art Club, run by our Junior School Art Teacher. The children are introduced to a new theme each term – from painting and papier-mâché to paper mosaic and Pop Art.
