Enhanced Learning

At Hall School Wimbledon we ensure that all pupils reach their full potential both academically and socially. We recognise that some pupils may have learning needs that require additional support, and that some children may find particular areas of the curriculum more demanding.

It is our overriding priority that support should be offered within the classroom, providing the level of assistance that enables children to become independent learners who are stimulated and engaged in their education.

Our teachers are our principal resource and are responsible for delivering our curriculum at a pace and level that is appropriate for each pupil. They draw on the help and expertise of Hall School Wimbledon’s Enhanced Learning Team. Members of this team are experienced in augmenting the work of our classroom teachers to enable success for those pupils who require additional support.

During our Registration process, parents are asked to inform the school of any previously diagnosed disability or special educational need (SEN) their child has, and provide any relevant documentation. The Headmaster, Principal, Head of the Department for Enhanced Learning and other relevant professionals will be consulted and will discuss the school’s ability to provide effective support. Failure by parents to disclose this information and provide relevant documents may result in the school being unable to offer adequate support.

Occasionally it may be decided that a child requires additional support to participate fully in our curriculum. Hall School Wimbledon offers a wide range of support groups that take place before or after school, for which there is an additional charge to parents. Children are invited to attend these groups in a variety of ways including teacher observations, testing and parental request. The overall aim of these groups is to equip children with the necessary skills to work independently and effectively within the classroom.
