Charities

Hall School Wimbledon pupils are encouraged to be aware of others less fortunate than themselves, both globally and locally. Once made aware, they naturally feel the need to help. Many of our pupils use their own initiative to raise funds for particular charities close to their heart and they organise a range of events in order to achieve this.

Most recently, Hall School Wimbledon has raised money for the Australian State Emergency Services in Brisbane following the catastrophic flooding in Queensland, for the mining community of Greymouth following the New Zealand mine explosion, and for the British Red Cross – Japan Tsunami Appeal following the earthquake and tsunami.

Friendship
Friendship is an organisation that was founded in 1998 to help the most underprivileged communities of Bangladesh, especially those in the most inaccessible parts of the country. One of our Hall School Wimbledon families has close ties with the charity and raised over £500 through a cake sale at the Junior School last year.

The Sreepur Village
Hall School Wimbledon has had a long association with this charity, which was at first called The Sreepur Orphanage. Pat Kerr, the aunt of the three Rogan brothers from our alumni, became involved when she was working as a stewardess for BA. She is now living in Bangladesh trying to ensure that all the children can leave with training and support. A favourite fundraising event for the Sreepur Village was ‘Barefoot for Bangladesh’ day when Hall School Wimbledon children went without shoes for a day to raise money.

Muscular Dystrophy Campaign
Hall School Wimbledon supports the Muscular Dystrophy Campaign in remembrance of Sapna Haria who was a former pupil of Hall School Wimbledon who died in 2007.

Macmillan Cancer Support
Hall School Wimbledon supports Macmillan Cancer Support through its World’s Biggest Coffee Morning held at the Junior School when scheduling allows. Ann Margaret Hobbs, one of the dynamic Eastbourne fundraisers, first wanted this event at the Junior School in 1995 when the national total of £923,923 was augmented by the £500 raised by Hall School Wimbledon children and parents.
