Hall School Wimbledon is proudly supporting England and Great Britain hockey player, Rob Moore, on his road to the London 2012 Olympics.
Our pupils have enjoyed Olympic quality coaching from Athens and Beijing Olympian, Rob Moore, and fellow Beijing Olympian and Wimbledon Hockey Director, Ben Marsden. Rob and Ben, together with the Wimbledon Hockey Club coaching team, regularly coach our Year 3, 4, 5 and 6 children and this has significantly influenced the direction of hockey teaching at the school.
In the lead up to London 2012, Rob has continued to coach our young players and, in November 2011, he and Ben came to the Junior School to talk to our children about what it takes to become a professional hockey player and taking part in the Olympics. Click here to read more.
In March 2012, Hall School Wimbledon hosted its first inter-schools hockey tournament together with Rob and Ben. Teams of boys and girls in Year 5 from local prep schools joined Hall School Wimbledon at KCS playing fields to compete for the title of tournament champions. Hall School Wimbledon made it to the final but then narrowly lost to Thomas’s Clapham to take the silver medals. Click here to read more about this tournament and to view a selection of photographs.
