Supporting a confident transition into senior school

At Hall School Wimbledon, students are supported not just academically, but personally, as they move

into senior education.

Students benefit from:
  • A structured transition into Senior school. Tailored support for Year 7 and 8 students as they navigate this important milestone.
  • Individual attention in small co-educational classes. In Senior School, our two or three classes per year group have a maximum of 15 pupils, leading to a tutor-style teaching environment. At A Level, we support every child’s subject ambitions, so personal attention is guaranteed with smaller classes of less than 5 pupils per class.
  • Individual teaching → tailored to each pupil. All pupils in Years 10 and 11 have access to a wide and varied curriculum, this enables them to find their passion and make strong academic progress.
  • Preparation for future GCSE and sixth form pathways. With 21 subjects offered at GCSE, leading to 27 subjects offered at A level. Plus a wide range of co-curricular clubs and pursuits including annual ski trips, and educational trips to Morocco, New York and Iceland, plus many more.
  • A nurturing environment where confidence and achievement grow together. Our staff are trained in a range of evidence-based, trauma and attachment-informed approaches such as Thrive and PACE – which are embedded into school life. These approaches help to build strong, trusting connections between students and staff meaning pupils feel seen, heard and supported.

What parents say

Hear from families who chose HSW

“After the first day at school, he came home saying ‘I knew this was the right school for me.”

“My daughter did a reading at the school carol service which I never thought she would have the confidence to do. I was so proud of her because she is shy and self conscious.”

“My son was a wreck having being badly bullied elsewhere. You have given my lovely boy so much confidence and resilience. I will always be grateful to the school for taking such good care of him and helping him to flourish.”

“Our son in Year 8 has felt extremely motivated. He surprised us with his hard work this last term and we can credit the teachers for supporting him after a move from abroad when he had to catch up with the curriculum. He’s been doing brilliantly thanks to their encouragement and support.”

I have two completely different children and this is the first (of 13) schools where both of them have thrived. For the first time one has the academic support he needs, the improvements in his grades and confidence were apparent after one term. The other has struggled socially as a result of all the moves. He is happy now, he wants to go to school, he wants to do well, a happy child is a successful child! Any family that has struggled to find the right place for their child will understand that there is no bigger gift than a smile and a wave at the school gate!
