A number of pupils entered the annual creative writing competition with the task of writing a short story or poem on the theme of “The Secret”.

Overall, 367 pupils entered the competition from 53 local schools.

We are delighted to announce that five of our pupils were recognised by Wimbledon Bookfest:

Isabel – Yr 9 (Highly Commended)
Luisa – Yr 9 (Commended)
Zoe – Yr 9 (Commended)
William -Yr 11 (Commended)
Hannah – Yr 10 (Good Try)

These entries were recognised for their “excellent writing and ability to engage the reader”. Each pupil will receive a certificate. In addition to this, for achieving highly commended, Isabel will also receive a copy of the Young Writers’ Competition 2020 anthology where she will see her entry published.

This is fantastic for all five pupils and I hope that they are all really proud of their achievement.

It’s a great way to end the academic year.
