Key Stage 2 at HSW: Nurture, Growth, and Confidence

At Key Stage 2, we pride ourselves on offering a calm, nurturing environment where every child is known, supported, and encouraged to thrive. Our small class sizes mean that each student receives individual attention and personalised teaching every day.

We don’t complete standardised testing or KS2 SATs - instead, we focus on helping children develop a love of learning and the confidence to succeed at their own pace. Teachers continuously assess progress and identify any areas where extra help might be needed. Because our classes are so small, most support happens naturally in the classroom, but when targeted help is required, we offer short, focused sessions in areas such as phonics, reading, or maths.

Children also enjoy specialist lessons in music, drama, and art, giving them the chance to explore their creativity and build confidence in a range of settings.

Emotional wellbeing is at the heart of what we do. Our Forest School sessions offer space to learn teamwork, problem-solving, and resilience in a natural, calming environment. If additional support is needed, we can also provide ELSA (Emotional Literacy Support) sessions to help children manage their emotions and develop positive relationships.

Our approach ensures that every child leaves Key Stage 2 feeling confident, valued, and ready to take their next steps into Key Stage 3 with curiosity and enthusiasm.
