A LEVELS

A levels (Advanced Level qualifications) are subject-based qualifications. These will be studied over two years, leading to qualifications recognised for entrance to higher education institutes. Students will have a choice to pick 3 x A level subjects or a combination of A levels and BTEC subjects. We will timetable 6 lessons per week for each A level subject (based on recommended teaching time from exam boards). Each student will have 18 subject lessons and 4 independent study lessons per week. Subject lessons will be delivered by our Heads of Department or senior teachers and independent study lessons will take place in the sixth form study room.

BTECs

BTECs are specialist vocational qualifications which combine theory and practical content. BTECs will have both internal and external assessments. Students will be registered separately for each of these assessments. 83% of the content is mandatory units and 46% is assessed externally. We will timetable 6 lessons per week for each BTEC subject (based on recommended teaching time from exam boards). Heads of Department or senior teachers will deliver these lessons.

GCSE resits

English and Maths GCSE resit courses will have 4 timetabled lessons per week. There are schemes of learning and resources available to deliver these subjects, which will be offered by experienced staff in these departments.
