Art
At Key Stage 2, pupils have two Art lessons a week. During Years 5&6 pupils learn and practice the techniques of drawing, painting, printmaking, and sculpture. New skills are introduced through themed projects which cover a variety of cultures, art movements and artists. The pupils produce work of their own and sometimes work on bigger projects as a group. The department always looks for cross-curricular links and devise exciting lessons in relation to these themes.
Design and Technology
Dovetailing with our Art curriculum, Design and Technology at HSW is a skills based subject and covers food technology, sewing, model making, dyeing and construction. Lessons take place at our Oberon facility, with acres of space, a large kitchen and multipurpose room. The pupils are engaged through fun, practical sessions which offer the opportunity to be creative and innovative, considering every aspect of the process through design, marketing, construction and evaluation.
