Celebrating La Fête des Rois in French Class

Celebrating La Fête des Rois in French Class

During French lessons, Junior School pupils have been learning about the traditional French celebration l'Épiphanie or La Fête des Rois (celebration of the three Kings). It is celebrated on 6 January, the Epiphany, when the Kings brought gifts to baby Jesus.

Traditionally a pastry  and almond cake la galette is made with a la fève (favour) hidden inside.

The youngest child in the class hides under a table and shouts out the names of each classmate who is served a piece of the galette.  Whoever finds la fève in their piece of cake wears the crown and is king or queen for the rest of the day!

Well done, Your Majesty, Jay, Iffy and Hannah!
