We have always prided ourselves on offering a truly inclusive education – and this means respecting the individual, knowing our students well, and tailoring our teaching so that everyone is included. But, when you think about it, inclusion is not the final aim, it is only the beginning. What we want for everyone is a ‘sense of belonging’. When a classroom or a school feels truly inclusive is when each of its members feel that they belong. This is why fellowship is one of our core values, working in tandem with another core value, individuality. Every student’s potential at HSW is turbocharged when they feel that sense of belonging, precisely because they feel settled and strong, confident and courageous.
I am immensely proud of the work my colleagues have done this year to make sure every student feels included and part of the team. Knowing that you are valued, and accepted, and celebrated for who you are and what you can offer, will always enable you to find your unhindered potential. This is why we at HSW, and across the Chatsworth Schools family, believe so passionately in inclusive education.
It feels like I say this in every issue, but, ‘It’s been a busy week!’. Read the articles below, look at the exciting photos, and you will appreciate how broad and busy and adventurous a Hall School education is. The different scenes and activities you will see below are awe-inspiring, but more than this, it is what you can’t actually see that makes me feel most proud: the culture of kindness and inclusion we have established and the camaraderie that accompanies us on every adventure.
Have a great week all and get some rest; next week is going to be even busier!
