We were all delighted to see our after-school clubs programme kick into action again this week. We are proud of the different activities on offer once again and my sincere thanks to all my colleagues who make time to share their interests and expertise with the children after lessons have finished. From public speaking to self-defence, girls football to board games, we want to offer our students the opportunity to ‘find their thing’.
The confidence and self-motivation experienced when you are ‘in your element’ and practising what you enjoy can be transferred across to other moments that you find more challenging. Topping up our self-worth, in whatever pursuit that fits for us, helps to bring resilience when times are harder.
But more than this, our after-school clubs provide a chance to be with each other in a more relaxed atmosphere, socialising whilst developing our skills. I hope everyone has managed to find a club they enjoy this term – but if not, we will be offering different clubs again next term, and I urge everyone to try a new activity – you never know what hidden talents you may have.
