Sport features prominently at Hall School Wimbledon. All our children get to experience a wide variety of sporting activities through PE and Games lessons, taught by specialist sports teachers who are highly accomplished sportsmen and women.
Between four and five Games lessons a week are timetabled for pupils at the Senior School and, on most days, pupils start the school day with 20 minutes of circuit training in the playgrounds or the gymnasium.

Physical Education GCSE
The GCSE Physical Education course comprises both theoretical and practical components. The theoretical aspects of the course examine how the mind and body respond to the demands of sport as well as other issues surrounding sport, for example, factors influencing participation. For the practical component, pupils learn and apply the skills of five different sports, and are assessed on their skills, game play and leadership abilities.
Facilities
Onsite, the Senior School has two outdoor playgrounds marked for netball, hockey, basketball, volleyball and five-a-side football as well as a gymnasium and a traversing climbing wall.
We are within walking distance of Wimbledon Common, which is used for cross-country, and we have access to local playing fields (off Lindisfarne Avenue) as well as Wimbledon Racquets and Fitness Club and Westside Tennis Centre.
Fixtures
All children have the opportunity to play in competitive matches in fixtures against other schools and in inter-house sports contests.
Senior School pupils have a weekly Games afternoon during which fixtures against other schools are usually played.
Hall School Wimbledon boys participate in the National Schools Rugby Tournament and the girls take part in the Merton Borough Netball, Rounders and Basketball Championships.
Sports Tours
Hall School Wimbledon has taken pupils from Years 9, 10 and 11 to New Zealand for three weeks on Rugby and Netball tours on two occasions in 2005 and 2009. The school travelled to Sydney for the 2000 Olympic Games. There have also been three Football tours to Malta.
