Head’s blog –21st April

In her charming ode to this promising time of year, Annette Wynne writes,

If I could stay up late no doubt

I’d catch the buds just bursting out;

And up from every hidden root

Would jump a tiny slender shoot;

I wonder how seeds learn the way,

They always know the very day –

The pretty, happy first of May;

If I could stay up then, no doubt

I’d catch the buds just bursting out.

I often say that the atmosphere outside children’s heads has an impact on what is going on inside. There has been a renewed energy and optimism on The Downs this week. The blossom trees are out, and everywhere one looks there are little buds and shoots appearing. We are fortunate indeed to enjoy a magical campus here; out of every window we see different shades of green and pink and chestnut.

I am very proud of the way our students have returned to school this week, with bright enthusiasm and vigour. We have an action-packed term ahead and I am excited by its possibilities and the blossoming start we have had. I look forward to awarding many more Headmaster’s Commendations in the coming weeks, as our students continue to work hard, play fair and strive to reach their outstanding potential.

Have a lovely weekend everyone.

Yours,

A J Hammond
