From the Head’s study…
Dear All,
There was a moment one afternoon this week when I found myself in the gazebo garden, witnessing a gladiatorial battle between two ping-pong champs. A battalion of eager children marched past, heading towards the gates, each carrying their own Djembe drum, ready for a music lesson up at the pavilion. To my left I could see some senior students disembarking from a minibus which had taken them to the sports fields for a double games lesson. And then the juniors arrived ‘home’ from a field trip to the Roald Dahl Museum in Buckinghamshire. A typical day at HSW? Is it always this busy, vibrant, varied and active? The answer is in the affirmative, most certainly. I have been thrilled to see so many different activities happening after just one week back, as we flex and grow and use our two charming campuses to the full, as we should do. We are lucky indeed to have some great facilities – I don’t know how many other boutique schools in South West London have exclusive access to nine acres and a pavilion – and I am very grateful to my colleagues for planning and staffing all these pursuits al fresco, or in ‘actual reality’ as I prefer to call it. With resilient and confident students like ours, we have a responsibility to keep them challenged and engaged!
A busy week. A well-earned rest. Then we go again.
