On Wednesday I was lucky enough to watch a thrilling U14 rugby match against Box Hill, hosted here at Oberon. Characters were formed and forged on that pitch in the cold and the mud! Our boys played so very well, working together as a team and tackling anything that moved with courage and determination. I was enormously proud of them all.
This week our mighty U13 girls took on St Catherine’s in an epic football match. Ms Ofori was delighted by the girls’ efforts as they worked together and showed tremendous talent and resilience. Go girls!!
We have very significantly increased the number of sporting fixtures for our girls and boys this year, thanks to the great work of Ms Ofori, Mr Mackintosh and Mr Dockery. These opportunities are so important – to bond as a team, give it everything you’ve got and represent the school with pride. Whether it is in rugby, football, netball, hockey or other sports, we are delighted to see our girls and boys wearing the school colours and continuing to raise the profile of our great school in the area. Watch out rivals, we are coming!
On Wednesday morning, I heard the most wonderful bass riff and drums emanating from The Grove. I ran from my office and saw an assembly in which our students were being treated to a demonstration of the double bass and electric bass by Mr Max Khan, one of the many new music teachers introduced to us by the brilliant Mr Spoerer. We have so many musicians at HSW, and I hear talk of bands, quartets and ensembles on the horizon. Another great example of teamwork in practice!
Have a great weekend all. Enjoy the Six Nations!
