‘Ready everyone? 1-2-3, smile.’ Rarely do the stars align such as they did today. Who could have predicted that our whole school photograph would take place on World Smile Day. I stood back and observed our team, as they climbed onto platforms in neat rows, smartly dressed and hair-combed, and I was struck by the camaraderie and cheerfulness they carried with them into the photo. Fellowship is a core value for us, and it is right and proper that every student should feel proud to be on the team, wearing the badge. I have sat in so many team photos over the years, but felt especially proud to sit in the centre of this one. Well done all.
It was wonderful to see our younger pupils in the junior school performing musical recitals on Tuesday morning. Having the commitment and self-discipline to learn to play a musical instrument, and then having the courage to play it in front of an audience, requires a strength of character – so typical of a Hall School Wimbledon student! My sincere thanks to Anna Lush, our brilliant Head of Music, for preparing the children and giving them confidence and a love of music, so important for us all.
I wish you a pleasant weekend. One more week and we shall be on half term.
Yours,
A J Hammond
