Head’s blog –27th January

I know that many of us have shivered this week and I am so very grateful to everyone for their stoicism and fortitude. It has not been ideal timing, given the very cold weather, but the work in the boiler room was necessary and could not have waited until the next holiday; the full replacement work was required now or we would not have had heating anyway.

I have been showing prospective parents around the school and they have all remarked on our students’ positive attitude and resilience – and the impressive array of woolly hats being worn about the place.

I am indebted to the team here, for their agility, pivoting to new lessons and different activities that will keep students warm and motivated.

I am hopeful that the shiny new boiler will be completely installed and up and running from early next week. I will, of course, keep you informed of progress – until then we now have enough temporary heaters here to warm a stadium.

In two weeks’ time we will be breaking up for half-term. I remember remarking a few weeks back that when we returned from the October half-term holiday it seemed like we had entered a different world, one of cold mornings, dark evenings and freezing rain. The same transformation often happens when returning from the Spring half-term break too, only this time we return to warmer mornings, lighter evenings and, dare I say it, some sunshine. I can’t wait to see the daffodils and they won’t be long now.

Have a warm weekend together.

Yours,

A J Hammond
