Head’s blog –5th May

The GCSE season is upon us once again and I want to thank Dr Pareek and Mr Dockery for all their hard work in organising the papers, setting up the facilities and preparing our students. I am proud of the way our Year 11 students have conducted themselves in the run up to these exams. Our Art and Photography students were first out of the blocks, spending ten hours this week completing their Externally Assessed Assignments, supported as ever by the brilliant Mr Evans. Today we had the iGCSE History Paper 1 – well done everyone, you did yourselves proud, I am sure.

Earlier this week we assembled our Green Council for another meeting to discuss environmental issues. My thanks to Miss Bochenski for leading this new team and setting new initiatives in motion already, as we work to make our school more eco-friendly. Watch this space for more updates soon on the stellar work they are doing.

We have spent much of the day today celebrating, in anticipation, the Coronation of King Charles III. The pupils on our School Council hosted the morning running cake decorating workshops in The Grove for each year group in turn. It has been a wonderful afternoon up at Oberon running team games and activities. The British weather has, of course, made an appearance, as it so often does at such alfresco celebrations. My sincere thanks to Mr Hunt in particular, and the School Council members, for organising the event and leading the team. We are so lucky to have Oberon and we have many plans to use the site even more next year in a variety of ways during each week to enrich our curriculum and inspire our pupils in their learning.

May I wish everyone a lovely weekend together.

Yours,

A J Hammond
