We have a champion amongst us; in fact, we have a double, back-to-back champion! Last weekend, our brilliant student, London, competed in Sheffield at the
2024 British Schools Judo Championships and won Gold medal – just as he did last year!! Well done, London, we are all so very proud of you.
Competing in such events requires so much self-discipline – to put in the hours of practice, to make the trips to sessions and events, to make the sacrifices, to stick to the routines. I often say that behind such self-discipline lies self-worth. After all, it is what we think of ourselves that matters; it is our self-worth that affects the level of effort we put into anything. If we think we are good enough and that it is worth the
effort, then we try. If we don’t care, we don’t try.
We all have strengths and talents, of that there is no doubt! We may not all be Gold medal-winning champions – at least not yet – but we all have individual talents and passions. Finding what motivates us, and what we are good at, tops up our self-worth and this, in turn, tops up our self-discipline – which makes us even better at our talents. When it works, it can be a very positive virtuous circle!
I hope you have a lovely weekend and are able to spend at least a little time developing your passions and talents.
